Sunday 2nd March
21:39, Home, London
Hello journal. I’ve just sat down at my desk. Let me tell you about today. First of all, the weather was great. It was also good yesterday, and I’ve just checked the weather app. Apparently, it will be good all week. Naturally, I’m a bit suspicious.
That’s not to say I didn’t take advantage of today’s blue skies! I made my way to Sainsbury to grab a meal deal for lunch, the greek style chicken tzatziki wrap today with a cheese twist pastry as the snack and another apple raspberry juice for my drink. Thats three times in a row now. Guess I’m a fan of this combination. Anyway, the greek wrap is the best main I think but it’s the ‘upgraded’ version of the meal deal, which means it cost me £5 instead of £3.75. Still, not bad.
Then, as has become tradition, I made my way over to Cafe Nero and did some work on my laptop, munching on my meal deal in the meantime. The only difference today was that I didn’t order an americano with cream, I went for a ‘Luxury’ mocha, since I’d amassed enough stamps on my loyalty card for a free drink. Win for me! The luxury range tastes great too.
After that, I had a call with Steve, stood in a sunny spot for a moment, and went home to receive the package from the post man. It was my dehumidifier. Wow, was it heavy. I slid it to my door and opened it, happily surprised to see it was pretty compact and had wheels. Once I got it upright, I just wheeled it into the living room. It has a 5.5L capacity and can catch (absorb?) 20L of water a day apparently. I’m happy with it so far.
I didn’t want to stay indoors though, the weather was too good. So, I put on my boots and headed out again, keen to explore a new road today. This area is still new to me. My walk lead me to an old church with a graveyard on its grounds. Cemeteries and graveyards always creep me out, but it was very peaceful. The road beside the church was also very green and full of birdsong. You should have seen me at the start. I stood on the cusp of the church ground like I was some kind of vampire considering eternal sleep.
I stepped onto the holy ground eventually. Nothing happened of course, haha. But I did snap a few pictures of the setting sun. I saw some ruins behind the church. I’ll show you a picture. I just love ogling at old things. Anyway, after a walk around, I headed back home, where I had a nice long call with mum and felt much better for it. The whole family in Canada is still at our cottage chilling. Can’t wait till it’s my turn this summer!
Then I made some food. I used up my chorizo and tomatoes to make a tagliatelle pasta dish. It was too much, so I ended up freezing the remaining plain pasta and some of the leftovers of the meal. I wonder how that’s going to taste after defrosting. But I reasoned that if they can sell frozen macaroni meals, surely I can freeze a homemade meal.
I tried watching a show called The Rig on Amazon Prime while I ate, but the brunette women in the show was so annoying, I couldn’t continue. The whole thing seemed a bit elementary to be honest, the script, the acting, the design. Only point of interest was that Iain Glen was in it. That’s Sir Friend Zone from Game of Thrones, by the way. I didn’t make it halfway through the first episode.
If you recall, I’ve been trying to empty out my fridge contents. I pretty much left the pantry and freezer stuff alone because they can survive, everything else I tried to use of or freeze where possible. This is because I really feel my body is not handling carbs well and I want to go on a little carb fast. It usually does wonders to heal whatever ailments are bothering me.
Right now, it’s this sort of weird sluggishness and bloating, some bad skin and tiredness. I’m certain eliminating carbs and incorporating healthy foods is going to set me straight by Friday, which is when I fly out to Cologne, Germany to meet Steve, his sister and her fiancé! I’ve never been to Cologne so pretty excited to spend the weekend there, and to meet Steve’s sister (Viola) of course.
Anyway, washed the dishes, the sink and stove, took out the trash, then had a shower. I’ve just finished hanging some laundry to dry and working on editing. As for the humidifier, it has a laundry mode! I’ve put it in the living room now because the clothes are hanging on the drying rack there. I’m going to let it do its thing and move it before I go to bed. The humidity is not too bad so far, between 40 and 50%. You’re supposed to keep your house humidity under 60%.
Now I shall finished up the journal, do a couple bits and bobs, maybe some Duolingo, then head to bed early. Tomorrow starts a busy week! Ciao.
